CERF CAMPAIGN KICKS OFF TO A STRONG START

City Council candidate Carolyn Cerf drew a crowd of about seventy supporters at her campaign kick-off, held earlier this week at Norton’s Restaurant.  In attendance were recently elected officials, longstanding city leaders, and those who know Cerf from her involvement in numerous civic groups and local causes.

As Cerf put it, “You’re all here because you already know and support me, and that’s because we’ve all worked together, whether as Board Members of the League of Women Voters or the Ravinia Neighbors Association, or as volunteers in Rotary Club, the Historical Society or  the Community Emergency Response Team.”  

Former Mayor Dan Pierce introduced Cerf to the crowd, saying, “She’s involved, hard-working, honest, and we want her to win!”  Cerf went on to thank supporters for their generosity and strong show of support, pledging to run a successful, hard-working, grassroots campaign to earn the support – and votes – of Highland Park residents.

Cerf touched on her plans and priorities for Highland Park, including the need to examine every alternative before considering tax hikes, cutting services, or drawing down reserves.  Cerf also pushed for immediate action on human services such as the Senior Center and highlighted the importance of transitioning the city to environmental sustainability in proactive but financially sustainable ways.
