Academy @ Citadel Theatre to host FREE student acting workshops

Academy @ Citadel Theatre to host FREE student acting workshops in Highland Park and Vernon Hills

On November 17th the Academy @ Citadel Theatre (ACT) will host free student acting workshops in Vernon Hills and Highland Park. The workshops will offer a taste of stage performance, allowing students new to ACT a chance to wet their feet with some initial instruction in the areas of acting, musical theatre, physical comedy, improvisation, and more.

ACT is the actors training school attached to Lake Forest’s Citadel Theatre and offers a variety of options for students looking to hone their acting skills. Stepping in to fill a gap caused by widespread decline in arts funding in school education, ACT focuses on delivering top-notch performance training to kids to enhance not only their stage skills but to bolster development of essential aptitudes for creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork.  Workshops on November 17th will showcase ACT’s training methods.

From 10am until noon ACT’s instructors will be at the Laschen Community Center (294 Evergreen Drive) in Vernon Hills. The workshop leaders will then move to Highland Park where they will open the next session directed toward registered Highland Park area residents at the West Ridge Center (636 Ridge Road) from 2pm until 4pm.
