HPHS Congressional Debate Places Third
The debate team competed at the first invitational tournament of the year, placing 3rd out of 25 schools and over 500 participants.
The HPHS Congressional Debate team competed at the first invitational tournament of the year, placing 3rd out of 25 schools and over 500 participants.
Two novices placed first in the novice division, Isaac Lasko and Jacob Zionts.
In the varsity division, Alexa Soren, Jared Molk and Evelina Yarmit all placed
1st in their respective chambers and Matt Kaufmann placed 2nd. Alex Gordon and Alex Foster won Critic’s Awards, and Cari Kraus, Eli Ruffer, and Matt Kaufman were named Best Presiding Officers. Also nominated were Daniel Nussbaum, Marty Schatz, Ross Hochwert, Ruth Libowsky, Clara Carlson, and Michael Schoof. The most coveted award for 1st Place Quality Speaker went to Jared Molk who had the highest point average in the entire tournament. The team is coached by Pat Cannon.
