North Shore College Consulting offers flexible scheduling and customized plans based on the needs of their individual students. Working closely with each student’s families, the staff guides everyone through each step of the exciting process of applying to and selecting a college.

“We’ve been in business for over two years and the time felt right to move our home office into a space in Downtown Highland Park,” said Debbie Kanter, co-owner of North Shore College Consulting. “Our new location is especially great for our clients who come from near and far as they are able to enjoy all the amenities Downtown Highland Park has to offer while their children are in counseling sessions.”

Love That Spice (474 Central Avenue) also joined Downtown Highland Park’s list of unique businesses in October, offering high quality exotic spices, herbs, spice blends and cooking sauces. A family owned and operated business, Love That Spice aims to deliver hand-selected, premium quality products from Sri Lanka as well as other foreign countries to the North Shore. Store owner Marlena Jayatilake is passionate about sharing spices not only because of the great flavor they bring to food but also because of the incredible health benefits they offer.

Opening less than a month ago, Defining Moments (1854 First Street) is a sneaker boutique featuring the latest trends in shoes and casual clothing. Inspired by memories of shopping with his grandpa, owner Angelo Turcanu created a store where a new generation could get the same joy from shopping that he experienced as a child. In addition to shoes, Defining Moments carries hats, jerseys and t-shirts that all relate to the footwear.
