Update: Highland Park Woman Killed By Train Identified

Cheryl Wilson-Segal was a wife and mother of three.

Update July 28:

The Highland Park woman who was killed Monday night when a freight train hit her car near Buckley, Ill. has been identified as Cheryl Wilson-Segal.

The 47-year-old was the only person in the car when it was struck by the train at around 8:30 p.m. Monday, according to Triblocal.

Triblocal reports that Wilson-Segal was lost in the rural area, according to a relative who spoke with her on the phone shortly before the accident. She was heading to the Heartland Spa in Crescent City for two days of relaxation.

“She was a wonderful lawyer, loving mother with great kids and she had one of the best marriages I’ve ever seen,” Carol Hogan, of the Chicago law firm Hogan Marren, where Wilson-Segal worked, told Triblocal. “This is a terrible accident. She didn’t want to leave any of this.”

A freight train hit a car near Buckley, Ill. Monday night, killing the Highland Park woman inside, TribLocal reports.

From TribLocal:

The accident occurred about 8:25 p.m. when the woman drove her 2007 Audi around crossing gates on eastbound Iroquois County Road 950 North, about two miles north of Buckley, the sheriff’s department said. Buckley is about 35 miles south of Kankakee.
