Lake County Circuit Court Clerk Announces Retirement

Circuit Court Clerk Sally Coffelt thanks voters for their trust.

After 32 years in office, Lake County Circuit Court Clerk Sally Coffelt will not seek another term. Coffelt’s term ends on Nov. 30, 2012.

At a press conference on April 14, Coffelt thanked her staff, county judges, fellow elected officials and appointed department heads, and the voters of Lake County.

“Staff always gave 100 percent to make sure court records were kept accurately and securely,” she said.

Cofffelt told Lake County voters, “Thank you so very much for placing your trust in me. I did my honest best each day and will to the end of my term.”

The office of the clerk of the circuit court maintains records of all court cases filed and heard in Lake County. The office collects and disburses traffic and criminal fines, child support and processes passport applications. The staff also attends court to keep records of the proceedings.
