Love stories like this in the "News" section. Thank you, Patch, for keeping journalism alive!

Sorry, Opinionated, but until Patch comes up with a section entitled "7 Pound Sandwiches," these stories will continue to be placed under the more general "News" moniker.

Another section would probably be appropriate to avoid things like the "Will the Bears win the Super Bowl" poll and restaurant surveys from popping up in the News section.

Feel free to start your own local news blog. I'm sure your topics would be quite newsworthy.

The Patch is all about LOCAL news. Someone eats the 7 lb sandwich at RUB? That's definitely interesting from a local perspective. Besides which, reporting on it may induce other people to come to HP and try... and that's good for sales tax revenues :-)

RUB, time to up the ante. 1/2 price if you eat one, free only if you eat two.

Never happen. No woman wants to put on the weight equivalent of a baby at one sitting.

Maybe a complimentary coronary artery bypass graft if you eat two?

Man v. Food: North Shore....Have a charity eating contest. Taquitos, sliders, bbq, pot stickers, apple pancakes....whatever?
D'skidoc September 19, 2012 at 01:18 PM
Heart Attack Grill has you covered.

Would you like some whine with your cheese? Maybe you should take up walking so you can get away from the computer once in a while. This IS local news, that's what the HP Patch is all about. I for one applaud the food stories!

Get sponsorship -- Pepto-Bismol, Weight Watchers, Sansa-belt, Charmin', the list goes on and on.

Of course it's not "news", but it is entertaining for those with no lives, like the Fox News Channel audience--entertaining for those with no knowledge.

I did the Taquito eating contest at Infernofest, and I was only on my second taquito by the time this guy ate 10. He is either an alien or a superhuman to have done that a few hours after eating the 7-pound BBQ sandwich. Props to him.

Props to him and the other 50% of the country that is overweight or obese.

Superhuman or just supersized?

Michelle Obama has dispatched a team of commandos from DC to shut down the restaurant (clearly we're far too stupid to make food decisions for ourselves) and take McDonald into custody. He'll be forced to change his name, of course, and be reprogrammed to eat small bites of vegetables at approved intervals. The restaurant will be cited and prosecuted for violations of all sorts of regulations: OHSA, Consumer Products Safety Commission, CDC, FDA, USDA, etc. for endangering a citizen by allowing him to eat what he wants.
