Lake County is looking for residents to share their stories about sustainable practices with a video series “How Do You Go Green Lake County?”
The series kicked off in August with the story of Highland Park resident Keith Sanderson and his dog Max, the Green Lab. Max, a natural retriever, picks up bottles in parks and forest preserves, then brings them to Sanderson for recycling.
“We want to encourage people to go green. By sharing personal stories, other people could see how easy it is,” said Jennie Vana, communications manager for Lake County.
The series and videos in the Sustainable Lake County Video Library are an outcome of the Lake County Board’s strategic plan.“One of the County’s goals is to promote a sustainable environment,” Vana said.
“We want to get the word out a little more. People can send ideas and we’ll take a look at them. Hopefully others will implement programs and ideas and we can have a greener Lake County,” Vana said.
The second video in the series was recently launched and it focuses on Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). CSA participants explain how farm shares work and the connection between local food and sustainability.
