'A Taste of Town' at Restaurant Row Dine-Around

WHEELING’S RESTAURANT ROW PROGRAM THIS HOLIDAY SEASON
Bringing
together the community to support local businesses and mentor the next generation
through a series of dining offers and special events November 29th–December
15th, 2013
WHEELING, IL (SEPTEMBER 2013)
— The opening of the holiday season brings in culinary
delights from the acclaimed restaurants of Restaurant Row in Wheeling and the
surrounding area. The Village of Wheeling and a team of community agencies are
partnering with the Wheeling/Prospect Heights Chamber of Commerce’ Restaurant
Row Hospitality Group to present Dine Around Wheeling’s Restaurant Row, which
culminates with the Taste of the Town on December 12, 2013. Dine Around
Restaurant Row encourages the community to dine locally, and promotes Wheeling
as a destination for family, food and community fun.

The Dine Around will
run from November 29 through December 15 and will feature special offers,
gourmet dining experiences and opportunities for free samples and tastings at
participating restaurants. The 17-day event will provide diners with a
valuable and enticing array of culinary experiences that define the renowned
Restaurant Row establishments.

The Taste of the Town event will be held
on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at the Westin Chicago North Shore, 601 N.
Milwaukee Ave., Wheeling. This one-night event will offer an exceptional
evening of delectable food, select wines, craft beers and more. Cooking
demonstrations will be presented by Executive Chef Mychael Bonner from
Saranello’s Ristorante Italiano, Peter Menteer the Executive Chef of The Westin
Chicago North Shore, and by Celebrity Chef Younghee Woo on behalf of the Korean
Cultural Center of Chicago, which is headquartered in Wheeling. Live holiday music, a silent auction and
raffles round out the festivities.
“We are
anticipating over 1,000 attendees at this year’s Taste of the Town event.
The majority of the proceeds from the event will support the Wheeling/ Prospect
Heights Area Chamber of Commerce’s promotional programming of its local
business members, while $5.00 from each ticket sold will be donated to support
the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago’s Next Generation Mentorship Program, to
provide career guidance and mentorship for local young people of all
backgrounds and cultures in our community. By participating in this
year’s event, businesses will reach thousands of customers area-wide and
demonstrate support for their community, said Susan Dennison, Taste of the Town
Committee Chair.
“With so many acclaimed restaurants in
Wheeling, we really want our residents and visitors to experience first-hand
what the village has to offer,” said John Melaniphy, Director of Economic
Development for the Village of Wheeling. “Dine Around Wheeling’s
Restaurant Row gives diners another reason to visit area restaurants at a value
and also enjoy a delightful evening at the Taste of the Town on December 12.
These programs will stimulate follow-up restaurant visits in the future for
years to come.”
