Chicago Area High School Students to Perform in the I’Solisti MYA Chamber Orchestra with Principal Violist of the Chicago Symphony, Charles Pikler

I Solisti MYA, directed by Chicago Symphony Orchestra Principal Violist Charles Pikler, is an elite chamber orchestra which includes select members of the Midwest Young Artists (MYA) Symphony Orchestra.

Members are chosen by rigorous audition to perform one movement of a concerto with the orchestra. Accepted students to I Solisti enjoy special performance opportunities and receive financial awards in addition to the ability to work with a spectacular musician.

The MYA youth music school is located in Fort Sheridan, in the town of Highwood, Illinois. (www.mya.org)
I’Solisti will travel to several area schools to perform on the Friday before their concert at Ravinia. The ensemble will first travel to Daniel Wright Junior High School in Lincolnshire, then on to Lake Zurich High School. The public is invited to come and see the group perform for free at Ravinia Festival at 3pm on March 2nd. This program demonstrates the value of believing in our youth and challenging them to greater pinnacles of achievement, as there are only a couple rehearsals to get everything right, and the members also have homework to contend with.-more-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
