HIGHLAND PARK, IL (FEBRUARY 26, 2013) – BrightStar Care and Highland Park Nursing and Rehab Center (HPNRC) are proud to sponsor a CEU event for social workers and nurses in clinical care. The event will take place on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 5:30-8:30pm at HPNRC, 50 Pleasant Avenue in Highwood. The event will feature two dignified speakers: Sharon Roth Maguire MS, RN, GNP-BC – SVP of Quality & Clinical Operations at BrightStar Care and George W. Savarese Ph.D., LCSW at Curaeta Care Systems. Dinner, drinks, and valet will be provided for guests.

Maguire will speak on the issue of too many medications and drug interactions in the elderly. She has been a registered nurse for 30 years and a geriatric nurse practioner for 25 years. She attended Marquette University for her Bachelors degree and received her Masters degree from Boston University. Her goal is to inform social workers and nurses on how to identify the risks and strategies associated with polypharmacy within the elderly population.

Savarese will speak on managing liability risk in everyday clinical practice. He is a licensed clinical social worker who has been in private practice since 1990. He is the founder of Curaeta Care Systems, which provides a wide range of psychosocial risk and resource management services. His goal is to educate social workers and nurses on how to understand the common misconceptions, attitudes, and practices in the institutions in which they work to avoid liability risks for themselves and others.
