The purpose of the foundation is three fold:

1) The Ballet Makkai Foundation will provide the opportunity for accomplished students to present professional quality performances to audiences through its performance group the Ballet Makkai Youth Company.  The Ballet Makkai Youth Company is a pre-professional ballet company, which needs funding for choreographers, sets and costumes so that it can perform both full length ballets and guest artist choreographed pieces in Concert around the North Shore and Chicago land area. These performances are separate from the Irina Makkai Classical Ballet and Dance School recitals and performances.

 2) The Foundation will offer scholarships for students within the school in need of financial help to further their dance education both at our school and for summer intensive programs around the country. Scholarships will be merit based and available to those with financial hardship not only at the Irina Makkai Classical Ballet and Dance School, but also for summer intensive programs such as Joffrey Ballet, Houston Ballet Academy and Bolshoi Summer Programs.

3) The Ballet Makkai Foundation will offer programs, scholarships and classes to the community through various dance classes, workshops and camps for those who might not otherwise be exposed to the art of dance. The Foundation will provide dance classes, summer camps and dance supplies to those in the community outreach program.
