Real Urban Barbecue Celebrates 2nd Anniversary in Highland Pork

A second year has flown by and Real Urban Barbecue (610 Central Avenue #177 in downtown Highland Pork) is celebrating with a birthday bash on Monday, November 12.

And there’s plenty to celebrate. In 2012, Jamie McDonald did the mere impossible and conquered the Hungry Home Wrecker 7lb Sandwich Challenge.  Dozens had tried before him, and none had succeeded.  Jamie finished it in an astounding 25 minutes!

In 2012, Real Urban Barbecue boasts having sold 103,562 pounds of brisket- that’s 283.73 pounds per day at their Highland Park location.

Real Urban Barbecue will commemorate two years with a birthday party featuring a three-dimensional Big Pig Cake created by West Town Bakery & Cafe. The pig cake will be butchered, sliced and served complimentary to guests while supplies last.

Forget the party hats, guests who dress up like a pig will be awarded a free sandwich and the right to “oink” at the other customers as they please.

To thank loyal fans, free “I Like Pig Butts and I Cannot Lie” t-shirts will be handed out as prizes to guests at times throughout the day.

Also, because it is a birthday celebration for all, guests born on November 12 will receive their entire meal for free (with valid i.d.).

Stop in and celebrate two years of delicious barbecue, great company and the burnt ends that Dan Bernstein from 670 AM The Score refers to as “little chunks of absolute, heavenly joy, that are almost like a brisket butter when it hits your mouth.”
