you have probably enjoyed Highland Park’s ample parks and outdoor spaces, have
you wondered from where the idea of making these spaces available derives?  This talk, led by Davis Schneiderman,
Associate Dean of the Faculty at Lake Forest College, will trace the path from
Chicago’s 1893 World’s Fair to Highland Park’s local playgrounds, presenting
the vision of the City Beautiful movement and the Progressive era by way of
everything from moving sidewalks to Japanese architecture to Walt Disney.
