HIGHWOOD BIKE RALLY TO HONOR INJURED MOTORCYCLE COMMUNITY CELEBRITY, URSULA WACHOWIAK

HIGHWOOD, IL (JULY 28, 2013-SEPTEMBER 22,
2013)
– The monthly
Highwood Bike Rally will be honoring Ursula Wachowiak, a nomad biker who got
badly injured in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday July 17, 2013 while riding to Sturgis, South Dakota on her trek
across the country. Wachowiak is now fighting for her life in Minnesota, far from
her family and loved ones. Starting this Sunday, July 28th at
Highwood’s July Bike Rally and continuing on August 25th and
September 22nd, bars and restaurants throughout Highwood will be
taking donations in an effort to help Wachowiak recover and get back to her
motorcycle journey.

Wachowiak set
out to fulfill her dream in February of 2013. She sold all of her belongings
and started a trip across the country on her bike to write a blog about life on
the road. Her goal was to make it through every state, visiting different
motorcycle focused events and festivals. On her way to a bike rally in Sturgis,
South Dakota, her dream was cut short. She was hit head-on by a car trying to
pass a semi-truck, and was thrown from her bike.

Without health
insurance, Ursula’s son began a fund for her to raise money to cover her
extensive hospital expenses. Please visit http://www.gofundme.com/3n44pg to make a donation in Ursula’s honor, or
stop by Highwood’s second monthly Bike Rally on Sunday, July 28th
from 10am-4pm. Help this fallen biker get back on her feet and accomplish her
goal.

“The Highwood
Bike Rally is the perfect opportunity to help Ursula raise the money she needs
for a quick recovery,” says Eric Falberg, Highwood Fourth Ward Alderman &
Chairman of Special Events. “Bikers from all over the Midwest will proudly gather
in Highwood to support their community and donate to Ursula’s cause.”
