HIGHWOOD BIKE RALLY WILL ZIP THROUGH THE STREETS OF HIGHWOOD FOR SECOND MONTHLY RALLY
HIGHWOOD, IL (JULY 28, 2013) – After a successful first Bike Rally, the
Highwood Chamber of Commerce is excited to welcome all bikers,
friends, and families back for the second monthly rally on Sunday, July 28th
from 10am-4pm. Restaurants and bars throughout downtown Highwood will open
their doors to the motorcycle community for a day full of live music, food, and
mingling with fellow bike enthusiasts.
Attendees will
ride down the streets of Green Bay Road, Sheridan Road, and Waukegan Avenue to
visit Highwood’s top spots for cuisine and cocktails, including The
Alley, Silver
Dollar Tavern, Tap House Grill,
Miramar, Longitud315, La
Casa De Isaac, The
Toadstool Pub, and Buffo’s! Bridie
McKenna’s will be serving
their delicious brunch until 2pm, with a $5 Bloody Mary special and the beer of
the month at a special price. In addition, the Silver Dollar Tavern will have $2 Miller Lite
pints and $5 Bloody Marys.
Be sure to look for the marquis sign welcoming all bikers at The
Alley, where they are
hosting a special day of Sunday blues music for all bike riders, with the
parking lot open for a fun hangout area and plenty of places to park!

Biker chicks are
encouraged to enter the first ever “Highwood Biker Betty” contest. The winner
will be crowned during the final event on September 22nd and will
represent Highwood, making appearances at all major upcoming events throughout
the year, including leading the Pumpkin Fest Parade with the Garlic Queen. For

The season’s
events will also include:

A 5-Card
Poker Run on August 25th, where participants can hop on their bikes
and grab a playing card at each checkpoint. At the end of the run, the rider
with the best poker hand will be named the winner. Registration for the Poker
Run will be from 9am-10am, with the first group starting at 10:30am. The Poker
Run will start in Highwood and go through Wisconsin. Bikers will make their
first stop at Green Town Tavern
in Waukegan (110 S. Genesee St. Waukegan, IL), then make their way to R&R Crossing (14827 W. Russell Rd. Russell, IL), make
their third stop at Hawg Heaven (10306 Antioch/Route 83 Salem, WI), and reach
stop four at Silver Dollar Tavern (336 Green Bay Rd Highwood, IL). The
final draw will be back at The Toadstool Pub (327 Waukegan Ave. Highwood, IL). The
Poker Run will be $15 per driver and $10 per passenger benefitting the new
not-for-profit organization for abused women, Margaret’s House.

“Best of Bike Show” at the grand finale event on September 22nd.
Have the chance to win in three different categories: Best Paint Job, Best
Chrome Job, and Best Decorated. Those interested can send a picture of their

chance to ride in the Highwood Pumpkin Fest’s “Light Up The Night” Pumpkin Parade.
Bikers will coast through the parade, lit up with lights and other festive
apparel!
