Local Leaders to Discuss How Jewish Women Can Succeed in Leadership, Advocacy

A panel of Chicago-area organizers, public servants and advocates will share their views on how Jewish women can become better leaders and advocates during “Leading the Way: Jewish Women’s Voices in Politics,” Wednesday, May 7, with networking at 6:30 p.m. and the program starting at 7:00 p.m., at North Shore Congregation Israel, 1185 Sheridan Road, Glencoe, IL 60022.

The talk will feature panelists Nancy Rotering, mayor of Highland Park; Shelley Sutker-Dermer, Presiding Judge, Circuit Court of County, Second MunicipalDistrict; Marilyn Glazer, Niles Township trustee; Marjie Sandlow, president of District 113 School Board; and Amy Zisook, Moraine Township trustee. The discussion will be moderated by Rebecca Sive, author of “Every Day is Election Day: A Woman’s Guide to Winning Any Office, from the PTA to the White House.”

Lead sponsors for the forum are the National Council of Jewish Women Chicago North Shore Section and Women of North Shore Congregation Israel. The program is co-sponsored by Congregation BJBE Social Action Network; Congregation BJBE Sisterhood; Hadassah Chicago-North Shore Chapter; NA'AMAT USA, Greater Chicago Council; The Jewish Women's Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago; Aitz Hayim Center for Jewish Living; and JAC Educational Foundation.

“We are excited to learn about how Jewish women can advocate on issues they are passionate about, especially related to improving the lives of women, children and families,” says NCJW Co-President Donna Fishman. “I know our panel will empower Jewish women across Chicagoland to take leadership positions in their communities.”
