Taste of the Town

Wheeling's Taste of
the Town event will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2013, from 5-8 pm at the Westin Chicago North Shore, 601 N. Milwaukee Ave., Wheeling. Tickets are
available via the Chamber website at www.wphchamber.com and are $30 through December
11 and $40 at the door.

This one-night event will offer an exceptional evening of delectable food, select wines, craft beers and more.  Cooking demonstrations will be
presented by: Executive Chef Mychael Bonner from Saranello’s Ristorante Italiano,
Peter Menteer the Executive Chef of The Westin Chicago North Shore, and Celebrity Chef Younghee Woo on behalf of the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago,
which is headquartered in Wheeling.  Live holiday music, a silent auction and raffles round out the festivities.

“We are anticipating over 1,000 attendees at this year’s Taste of the Town event.  The majority of the proceeds from the event will support the
Wheeling/ Prospect Heights Area Chamber of Commerce’s promotional programming

of its local business members, while $5.00 from each ticket sold will be

donated to support the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago’s Next Generation

Mentorship Program, to provide career guidance and mentorship for local young

people of all backgrounds and cultures in our community.  By participating

in this year’s event, businesses will reach thousands of customers area-wide

and demonstrate support for their community, said Susan Dennison, Taste of the Town Committee Chair.

“With so many acclaimed restaurants in Wheeling, we really want our residents and visitors to experience first-hand what the village has to offer,” said John Melaniphy, Director of Economic Development for the Village of Wheeling. “Dine Around Wheeling’s Restaurant Row gives diners another reason to visit

area restaurants at a value and also enjoy a delightful evening at the Taste of

the Town on December 12.  These programs will stimulate follow-up

restaurant visits in the future for years to come.”
