Walk For Primary Immunodeficiency

The Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF), is pleased to announce the greater Chicago area will host the inaugural Walk for Primary Immunodeficiency.  The walk will serve as an opportunity to join the immunodeficiency community and raise funds and awareness about primary immunodeficiency diseases.  All proceeds benefit IDF.

Primary immunodeficiency diseases, or PI, affect children and adults who are born with an immune system that’s either absent or severely compromised, which leads to a greater risk of infections. In most cases, there is a pattern of chronic infections before primary immunodeficiency is suspected. There are more than 185 types of PI – some are relatively common and others are quite rare and while there are approximately 250,000 people diagnosed with PI in the United States, thousands more go undetected. Because PI can lead to serious and debilitating diseases, it’s critical to get an early diagnosis and proper medical care.  IDF, the national patient organization dedicated to improving the diagnosis, treatment and quality of life of persons with primary immunodeficiency diseases through advocacy, education and research.

Walk for Primary Immunodeficiency is a fundraising Walk designed to support the thousands of individuals and families living with Primary Immunodeficiency across the U.S.  Participants can organize or join a team or register as an individual.  Registration is available for walkers and non-walking supporters. All are welcome!
