Toys Glorious Toys

The Toys for Tots drop-off box inside the Koenig & Strey office on the corner of Chestnut and Elm in Winnetka has been filled to the brim 6x over - spilling into the picture windows to make a fabulous display of exciting new toys for hundreds of good girls and boys.

Generous neighbors have arrived daily, some lugging huge bags filled with 10-20 toys, others dropping off one lovely item. Some brought in their children to drop-off the gift, something they had personally selected that they knew another child would love too.

Legos galore, Hot Wheels sets, Pottery Wheels, Spy gear, board games, Play-Doh, baby dolls; strollers, car seats and baths for the baby dolls, street racing cars with transmitters, My Little Pony sets, doctor's kits, Disney Princess dolls, Hello Kitty Yahtzee, basketballs, soccer balls, sets of Matchbox cars, sets of wood blocks, furry play pets that you can take for a walk, xylophones, car racing tracks, Laugh and Learn toddler toys..and this is just a sampling of the 200 toys donated by locals that will be wrapped and presented to children who need them.

The Winnetka Koenig & Strey office has been an annual
participant of the Toys for Tots program coordinated by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. The program's primary goal is to "deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens."

There are still a couple of days left before the toys are picked up and gift wrapped for their presentation to deserving children - so drop by and drop one in!
