Jordan Michael Filler Foundation Basketball Tournament Aims To Spread Awareness About Addiction

Jordan Michael Filler Foundation is hosting its first basketball tournament Sunday, March 16.

The foundation aims to raise funds to help spread awareness about addiction and prevent deaths such as the one of its namesake. Jordan Michael Filler, of Highland Park, died at the age of 23 of a heroin overdose. Its mission is articulated in a post on its Facebook page:

"As the Filler family emerges from the shock of their loss, they have come together to save others from the devastation of heroin. The Jordan Michael Filler Foundation-Saving Our Children from Heroin intends to honor Jordan’s legacy by using his story in creating awareness of this horrible addiction. Through scientific research, legislative reform, increased public awareness, and providing treatment to children whose families cannot afford it, The Foundation will make a difference in the prevention and treatment of heroin addiction."

The Jordan Michael Filler Foundation has already garnered more than 5,000 Facebook supporters. Visit the page to like it and find out more.

The foundation accepts donations via PayPal.
