Giant Pitcher Signs With Missouri

Highland Park High School's Liam Carter will take his pitches from the Central Suburban League to the Southeast Conference.

Highland Park High School pitcher Liam Carter signed a national letter of intent Wednesday to play baseball for the University of Missouri next season, according to Highland Park Athletic Director Matt Castle.

Carter has developed consistently during his high school career and now throws a fastball that approaches 90 miles per hour, according to Giant Coach Dan Casey. He is also a perpetual of the game.

“Liam (Carter) constantly asks questions about pitches and the game, as well as picks the minds of baseball people and reflects on those things to incorporate in his game,” Casey said. “He has made several adjustments with his pitches and arm slots.”

Balancing academic requirements at Highland Park along with baseball, Carter is looking forward to the next step in both baseball and education.

“With the rigorous academic schedule that HPHS has to offer, I have learned how to manage my time between baseball and school,” Carter said. “I will take the skills HPHS has taught me to be a better teammate and student in the future."
