$90,000.00 SPENT TO FIGHT ASSAULT WEAPONS LAWSUIT.

According to a recent Sun-Times article, the City of Highland Park has paid out $90,000.00 in Attorneys fees involving the Assault Weapons Ban. $90,000.00 that could have been used to finish the H.P. Beach Project or fill the the ever enlarging Pot-Holes on many of the streets. The people elected to the City Council do not seem to mind that your money is being spent on a lawsuit that serves no purpose what so ever. A lawsuit that has challenged Constitutionality the Assault Weapons Ban is going on and is presently being heard in the Federal Courts. Every town surrounding Highland Park, allows the very same guns and Magazines that H.P. has Banned. Never in the history of Highland Park, has a Murder or crime been committed by any of the weapons Banned or a weapon that uses the Magazines Banned. The ordinance is a high costing solution to an issue that does not exist. The Mayor of Highland Park is a Member of NYC Mayor Bloomberg's MAIG Group and was visibly infuriated at the City Council Meeting as she spoke of the Illinois Conceal Carry Law. In my opinion, this AWB is simply an UnConstitutional Law and it will end up costing Highland Park a Million Dollars or more, by the time the Court process finally strikes it down. If you as a Taxpayer do not like your hard earned Tax Dollars being wasted... let the City Council and Mayor know your feelings on the matter.
