October 14 includes lots of events in Highland Park and all of it is FREE.

HIGHLAND PARK ARTS MONTH CELEBRATION DAY

The public is invited to see what local arts groups have to offer right here in Highland Park on Sunday, October 14th! All day throughout Highland Park exhibits, performances, demonstrations, vendors, and hands on activities are free and open to the public of all ages! 

Residents are invited to learn about, view and discuss pieces within the City of Highland Park collection on a Downtown Public Art Walking Tour. The tour starts at “Ballena Vallarta,” by Octavio Gonzalas located at the corner of First Street and Central Avenue in Downtown Highland Park. This event begins at 11:00 AM and is co-sponsored by the Highland Park Public Art Advisory Group.

At 1:30 PM all are invited to attend the lecture and presentation “Words Behind the Music: Cole Porter’s List Songs” and a special performance by The Musical Theater Company at 1850 Green Bay Road. This special Art Month Day event is collaboration between East on Central and the theater. Free tickets are available through The Musical Theater Company.

Between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM the day’s events will continue to The Art Center – Highland Park at 1957 Sheridan Road. In The Art Center’s many galleries performances of musicals, dance, drama, poetry, and visual arts demonstrations will take place.
