Walking Tour of HP with Mark Fenton

Participate in a walking tour of Highland Park with Mark Fenton on Friday October 19.

As part of Highland Park Green Town later this week, there is a  “walking tour” that provides an opportunity to explore mutually beneficial strategies and projects that promote bike and pedestrian friendly community development. In addition to the health and quality of life benefits, communities that have implemented these strategies have increased economic development within business districts and have increased home values. Please consider joining the walking tour -- details and sign up information follow.

Mark Fenton Walking Tour of Highland Park
Friday, October 19, 2012
7:30am-8:30am (arrive at 7:15am-walk begins at 7:30am) beginning at the Art Center Highland Park, 1957 Sheridan Road

Join GreenTown Conference keynote speaker Mark Fenton, Host of “America’s Walking” on PBS for a walking tour around Highland Park to learn about ways to make the community more bike and pedestrian friendly. These “walking audits” – performed now across the country - have become an extraordinary learning opportunity for community leaders to experience areas of their community that are designed for pedestrians and bicycles and which are not, and to discuss ways to make roads, streetscapes and sidewalks accessible to all users. This unique feature of GreenTown is free and is designed for:

-elected officials
-community institution board members
-municipal and community staff
-business owners
-bike and pedestrian advocates
-community residents
