Alyssa Knobel for City Council

Why Alyssa belongs on the City Council

I am proud to support Alyssa Knobel for City Council. She has the honesty, integrity, and independence we expect as a baseline of anyone who we would elect. I know this because I have seen Alyssa in action. I have seen Alyssa in public meetings articulate well reasoned and knowledgeable positions, even if it means disagreeing with a friend.

Yet Alyssa is practical and does much of her best work behind the scenes. She knows ideas are great, but accomplishments are what matter. If she can implement an idea herself, she will. If she needs the help of others, and she is wise enough to know how often that is, she will nurture the partnerships necessary. This combination of traits is why she is Chair of the Business and Economic Development Committee and is Chair-Elect of the Downtown Highland Park Alliance.

While Alyssa’s experience with Highland Park businesses lends her an expertise in that realm, she is the opposite of a one issue candidate. Alyssa is both broadly curious and informed about Highland Park, and she is ready to handle the problems that we know about today and those which will arise during a 4 year council term.

Alyssa is exactly the kind of candidate who can meet, and exceed, the high expectations we have for members of our City Council.

When reading my story above you probably are wondering why I didn't use customary paragraphs inRead More composing this article. The fact is I did! However, those AOL/Patch software designers who recently put this new format together didn't allow for paragraphs, boldfacing and some other essential typographical aids that make stories more readable. I have no idea why. Hopefully this oversight will soon be corrected. Ed Collins, Contributor

Ed, I completely agree with your format comment - eliminating paragraphs and other aids makesRead More articles much less readable. Jacob, why the change? It isn't like you have to spend more money on printing pages. Please address.
