Can Standardized Tests Make or Break Your College Application?

The SAT and ACT generate a lot of anxiety. Many parents think that their students should start preparing for these tests years in advance. Students often feel that their future and their self-esteem depend on the outcome of one test taken in less than four hours on a Saturday morning.

The reality is that many colleges have holistic admissions. In other words, admission officers are interested in more than just the numbers. When they evaluate an application, they consider all of the components including the student’s academic record, standardized test scores, letters of recommendation, essays, awards, work experience, leadership and extracurricular activities, and in some cases, the interview.

To find out more about the true importance of standardized test scores and how soon you should really start the planning process, please visit our website.
