NorthShore University HealthSystem Names Jorge Saucedo, MD, New Head of Cardiology

Top cardiologist, Jorge Felix Saucedo, MD, 49, has joined NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore) as the Division Head of Cardiology.  Dr. Saucedo comes to NorthShore from the University of Oklahoma Health and Sciences Center Division of Cardiology where he was Professor of Medicine and the Vice Chief of Clinical Affairs.

“Dr. Saucedo brings a superior level of accomplishment and a rich experience to the Division of Cardiology,” said Theodore Mazzone, MD, Chairman of the Department of Medicine for NorthShore. “We are very fortunate to have him on the team and look forward to incorporating his clinical expertise, research and management skills into our program.”

Dr. Saucedo will advise and manage the 33-person cardiology team and advance the division’s efforts in translational research, high-profile clinical programs and expert patient care.

“I am incredibly excited to join this world-class cardiology team,” said Dr. Saucedo.  “This is a phenomenal opportunity, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to build an even stronger, more robust cardiology team to benefit our patients.”

Dr. Saucedo has extensive experience in multi-center clinical research and investigator initiated studies in areas such as antithrombotic and antiplatelet therapy for patients with coronary artery disease and angiogenesis and regenerative medicine for patients with peripheral arterial disease.

He completed cardiology fellowships at the Instituto Nacional de Cardiologia in Mexico City, the University of Michigan Hospitals in Ann Arbor, MI, and at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC.  He also completed his Master’s of Business Administration at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. He studied medicine at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico. 

Dr. Saucedo now lives in Winnetka, IL, with his wife, Karen, and two children, Joey, 17, and Georgie, 15.
