The Assault Weapons Ban that was Passed by Mayor Rottering and the City Council has created a large number of violators that do not even know that they are breaking the law! Law abidding, FOID Card holding gun owners that do not even know that their Home Defense Shotgun with a pistol grip has now been deemed...an "Assault Weapon" or the guy that has an ammunition magazine that has a capacity larger than 10 rounds. There are at least three thousand people in H.P. that are comitting a Misdemeanor Crime and do not even know it. Yet, in Deerfield, Lake Forest, Lake Bluff and hundreds of other surrounding communities... those same guns and ammo magazines are 100% Legal. What is the logic or purpose of this non-sense, Il. State Law is being violated by this ordinance as well, Pre-emption on the Passing of any Law in regards to Handguns. The Mayor and City Council of Highland Park are violating the U.S. Constitution and Illinois State Law and simply do not care. It will have to be resolved in court, at taxpayers expense... meanwhile, people will be arrested and prosecuted as criminals, for exercising their Second Amendment Rights. Why? Why are we going to persecute the innocent, for the crimes of the insane and criminals that the Police can not comntrol. This Mayor Rottering and the City Council members that did this, should be re-called and kicked out of office. Buffalo Grove Passed a good, common sense, Assault Weapons Ban... no fully automatic firearms allowed. Now that is an Assault Weapons Ban that makes sense.
