Host a Kid-Friendly Cinco de Mayo Party

Fun activities for the kids at your Cinco de Mayo celebration.

Cinco de Mayo, the Mexican Holiday that celebrates the Mexican Army’s victory over France in the mid 1800’s, has become a bigger and bigger event here in the U.S., mostly due to our love of Margaritas and imported beer. However, it has morphed into a celebration of Mexican culture - so why not take the opportunity to teach your kids about Mexico in a fun way.

If you were thinking about inviting some friends or neighbors over this weekend to celebrate, here are five Cinco de Mayo party ideas the kids will love.  It’s a Fiesta!

Mexican Flag – Have the kids make their own Mexican Flags with this fun idea from the A Mom Not a Pro blog. Even a toddler can make this fun flag art.

DIY Mini Pinata – Mari over at the Inspired by Familia blog has a cute idea to make your own mini Pinatas out of paper cups.

Luchador Wrestling Masks – Got some crazy boys at the party? They will love making their own Lucador Mexican Wrestling Masks. Grab the template here.

Mexican Cuff Bracelet – Your little chicas will have a blast making these cuff bracelets that look resemble the Mexican Metal tooling technique.

Ice Cream Dessert- Finally, check out this super easy ice cream dessert kids can make for a Cinco de Mayo party. Adults are going to want to make some, tambien.
