LocaL Residents Co-Author Article in Illinois Bar Journal

John T. Wagener, of Green Oaks, and Kenneth D. Peters, of Highland Park, a partner and managing partner, respectively, at Dressler|Peters LLC in Chicago, are the authors of “Bankruptcy and the Series LLC: Can Creditors Pierce the Veil?,an article which appears in the May 2014 issue of the Illinois Bar Journal, the monthly magazine of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA).

The Series LLC gives sweeping liability protection to those who use it but will it shield an umbrella entity from liability incurred by debtor subunits in bankruptcy and under UCC Article 9? In the article, the authors advise creditors to assume that the shield will be strong and broad.

The 32,000-member ISBA (isba.org), with offices in Springfield and Chicago, provides professional services to Illinois lawyers, and education and services to the public through a website (illinoislawyerfinder.com), consumer brochures, and distribution of legal information.
