MEMORIAL DAY?

Why do we celebrate Memorial Day? Are we celebrating our Veterans and the sacrifices of our military men and women? Why? What have they fought for, what have they sacrificed for? Did they fight and die, so we would sit on our ass and not even bother to Vote in the Elections? Only 14% of Registered Voters actually Voted in the March Election in Lake County. Did they fight and die so we would sit silently as our elected Officials rob from our children, their future. The politically correctness of the complacent residents of Illinois is appalling. You have crooks in Office and just accept it, you have allowed them to stay in Office because they have gerrymandered the district maps and have a (D) next to their name. Illinois has been ruined by these people, but you will either not Vote or Vote for a (D), because your too busy to even know who your Voting for! In the future, your children will have a new reason to not celebrate Memorial Day... because the fight was in vain, the folks at home surrendered. Who stands up and opposes the Highland Park City Council, who stands up and challenges the Highland Park School District and when they do... where are you?  The complacency of the populace of Highland Park is the same as the complacency of the people of 1938 Berlin. "NEVER AGAIN"... is entirely possible, when the populace is as silent as the dead. Did Highland Park even have a Ceremony for Memorial Day? Was there a ceremony, with elected Officials present, like Mayor Nancy Rotering and Rep. Scott Drury, Senator Julie Morrison? Was there any recognition of the sacrifices of our Armed Forces, or were they just ignored and forgotten?
