WARNING: REP. SCOTT DRURY, INCORRECT AGAIN!

Rep. Scott Drury has posted on his facebook page that "As of Jan. 1, 2014 people can carry loaded concealed weapons in Illinois. This is simply not true... not one single person in the entire State of Illinois has been issued a Conceal Carry License and the ISP has stated that they will be sending out the first ones issued in mid-March. In my opinion, this incorrect statement by Rep. Scott Drury is very dangerous, a person who reads this message and believes it, at face value... could be arrested and convicted of a Felony Crime, if they were caught carrying a concealed loaded weapon on their person in public. The AUUW/ UUW Law is still being enforced by the Illinois State Police. The only form of conceal carry allowed in the state of Illinois, is by people from out of state that have a CCW License from their home state...and that is confined to "only in their vehicle."  Rep. Scott Drury was the point man for the Home-Rule, " Assault Weapons Ban" and he voted against the Illinois Conceal Carry Law, even though the Federal Appeals Court and the Illinois Supreme Court ruled that the Ban on Conceal Carry was unconstitutional. There are serious issues with Banning people from being able to exercise their Contitutional Rights. There are abused women that are being stalked by men, Ex-Husbands, Ex-Partners, etc.  and they need to be able to defend themselves. There are people who have, through no fault of their own, made enemies that wish to do them harm. They need to be able to defend themselves from a vicious attacker. Are you going to defend them, while they are in your "NO CONCEALED CARRY" establishment? Please ask Lake County States Attorney, Mike Nerheim or Lake County Sheriff, Mark Curran about their position on Conceal Carry and why they support it. An example of why, is the case involving a Vernon Hills woman named Diane Kephart. She did everything legally possible to keep her Ex-Partner from killing her...but it was not enough. Sheriff Mark Curran was quoted as saying, "An Order of Protection is just a piece of paper, it will not protect you from a person that is hell bent on killing you."  So before you put that useless sticker in your window... please remember that some people need to exercise their Right to Bear Arms. It is the ability to defend themselves and their family, it insures their Right to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness... away from an abusive relationship with somebody that wishes to do them and their family harm. Please do not keep abused women in chains, unable to leave their abusive spouse or keep them unarmed and defenseless against an attacker. Empower women to be strong and couragous against their abuser and allow them to have the choice to choose whether they can defend themselves against violent and deadly attack. We have women on the front lines of our wars in Iraq and Afganistan, women can and do protect themselves with firearms everyday in the military and in law enforcement. We need to respect their Constitutional Right to defend themselves. Police can not protect them 24/7/365 and the threat to them is real.
