Rudeness Destroys Friendships

Is anyone else sick of rude cell phone behavior by people close to you? Visiting a once-close long distance friend I hadn't seen in years, she spent the entire time staring into her phone and carrying on other conversations instead of paying attention to the live face to face human sitting next to her!  It was the rudest behavior and so sad that she would not be present in the moment for just a few minutes out of her life, to visit with an old friend.  It may not have been her intent - but the clear message is that she couldn't have cared less to see me or spend any time with me.  WHY do people like become so self-absorbed and think yakking on their cell phones or posting about themselves all day on Fakebook makes them appear the least bit happy or successful. Quite the contrary!  I'd appreciate your thoughts.
