15 Vehicles Broken into in One Week

Theft from motor vehicle

Police are investigating a report of theft from motor vehicle. It was reported that between 6 p.m. on Aug. 31 and 7 a.m. on Sept. 4, catalytic converters were removed from 3 work vehicles (1 box truck, 2 vans) while parked in the 3100 block of Skokie Valley Road.  It appears that the converters were removed by means of a reciprocating saw.

Police are investigating a report of theft from motor vehicle. It was reported that between 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 1 and 1:15 p.m. on Sept. 4, catalytic converters were removed from 6 work vehicles (5 vans, 1 truck) while parked in the 2900 block of Skokie Valley Road.  It appears that the converters were removed by means of a reciprocating saw.

Police are investigating a delayed report of theft from motor vehicle. It was reported that sometime over the weekend, catalytic converters were removed from 2 vehicles (1 truck and 1 passenger car) while parked in the 3100 block of Skokie Valley Road.

Police are investigating a delayed report of theft from motor vehicle. It was reported that sometime between 5 p.m. on August 31 and 5 pm on Sept. 5, unknown subject(s) removed the catalytic converters from two trucks while they were parked in the 2200 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report of a burglary to motor vehicle. It was reported unknown persons smashed a driver's side front window and a purse was removed from the vehicle sometime between 12:50 p.m. and 2 p.m. while parked in the 700 block of Park Avenue West. The purse contained a driver’s license, credit cards and gift cards. 

Police are investigating a delayed report of a burglary to motor vehicle. It was reported that a vehicle that has been parked and unused for the past 3-4 years in the 900 block of Central Avenue was unlawfully entered within the last 30 days. Numerous electronics had been removed from the vehicle including two portable dvd players, one 12" subwoofer and one pioneer amplifier. All doors were locked with exception to the sliding door on the vehicle.

Residential burglary

Police are investigating a report of residential burglary. It was reported that between August 29 at 10:30 a.m. and Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. a rear door to a vacant residence was pried open. An upstairs master bathroom may be missing a vanity table with granite counter top. The incident occurred in the 2200 block of Sheridan Road. 

Battery

Henry Waldman, 62, of the 1300 block of Charing Cross Road, Deerfield, was arrested and charged with battery after police responded to a report of a dispute near an establishment in the 1900 block of Sheridan Road, Highland Park.  Waldman was released on a recognizance bond with a court date of September 26, 2012 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Park City. 

Theft

Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft of a Samsung Galaxy S Mesmerize cell phone that was taken from Ravinia after it was accidentally left in a bathroom stall on August 25, 2012.

Police are investigating a delayed report of theft. It was reported unknown subjects stole a black and blue Trek 3700 Bicycle sometime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sept. 4 from the 400 block of Vine Avenue. 

Police are investigating a delayed report of theft. It was reported a Cannondale Cruiser type bicycle was taken from a garage in the 1200 block of Park Avenue West sometime between August 20 and September 3.

Driving under the influence

Laticia Dixon, 23, of the 500 block of Caroline Place, Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage, open transportation of alcohol and driving while license suspended after being stopped by police in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Dixon was released on a recognizance bond with a court date of Sept. 28, 2012 at 18 North County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Scott Lerman, 60, of the 2700 block of Arlington Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage and speeding after being stopped by police in the 400 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Lerman was released on a cash bond with a court date of September 28, 2012 at 18 North County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Unlawful acquisition of a controlled substance

Jamie Chapman, 19, of the 3700 block of 79th Street, Chicago, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of a prescription pad and unlawful acquisition of a controlled substance.  Darius Ballinger, 21, of the 9300 block of South Union, Chicago, was charged with driving while license suspended, unlawful possession of a prescription pad and unlawful acquisition of a controlled substance and Kendall Donaldson, 22, of the 200 block of S McKinley, Harrisburg, Illinois, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a prescription pad and unlawful acquisition of a controlled substance after police responded to a report of suspicious activity in the 1500 block of Clavey Road, Highland Park.  Chapman, Ballinger and Donaldson were all transported to bond court at 18 N. County, Waukegan pending court date.
