Blotter: Missing Money, Car Damage and DUIs

Cell phones, wallets and cash went missing this week.

The following items are taken from the Highland Park Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Missing Cell Phones, Wallet, Cash

On October 4 at around 11 p.m., police investigated the theft of a cell phone around the 500 block of Chicago Avenue. On October 8, things got a little more interesting as a wallet, iPhone and backpack disappeared around the 400 block of Central Avenue. A money bag, debit card and cash were reported stolen on the 200 block of Skokie Valley Road on October 10 around 10 p.m. Also on October 10 police investigated the burglary of a home in the 2500 block of Augusta Way.

Driving Under the Influence

On October 6, at around 1 a.m., 31 year old Thomas Keller was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and obstructing police. The next day, around 1 a.m., 19 year old Dardan Mehmeti was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and speeding. On October 10, 34 year old Jamie Galarza was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. All of them were released on bonds.

Driving with a Suspended License

On October 6, around 4:45 p.m., 32-year-old Sotereos Tzakis was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended. Forty-nine-year-old Nicolas Campos was arrested for the same charge around at 9 a.m. the next day. Eden Mendez-Rodriguez, 30, was arrested for driving with a revoked license on October 7 around 5 a.m.

Criminal Damage to a Motor Vehicle

At around 5 p.m. on October 4 police investigated a report of criminal damage to a motor vehicle on the 1700 block of Second Street.

Trespassing

On October 7 at around 10:20 p.m., Brad Lichtenstein was arrested and charged with trespassing in the 700 block of Central Avenue. He was released on a bond.
