Carly Rousso's Curfew Lifted for December Travel

The 18-year-old Highland Park woman who has pleaded not guilty to the car crash that killed a 5-year-old girl will be able to travel to Arizona later this month to spend time with her grandmother.

A judge temporarily lifted the 24-hour curfew for Carly Rousso from Dec. 18 to 24 so she can travel to Arizona to spend time with her grandmother, the Highland Park News reports.

Rousso is the 18-year-old Highland Park resident who crashed her car into a family on Labor Day,killing 5-year-old Jaclyn Santos-Sacramento, according to Highland Park Police. She pleaded not guilty  to charges of reckless homicide and aggravated driving under the influence in October.

Toxicology reports indicate that the compound Difluoroethane was detected in Rousso's blood, according to a grand jury indictment. The compound was found in a commercial cleaning product uncovered in Rousso's car, according to Ken LaRue, the Lake County State's Attorney's Traffic Division chief.

Rousso was placed on the 24-hour curfew after her family posted 10 percent of her $500,000 bond, according to Highland Park News.

This isn't the first time Rousso's bond has been adjusted. The Highland Park News reports it was modified on Nov. 20 to allow her to go to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and work as a volunteer.

If convicted on all charges, Rousso could go to prison for a maximum of 26 years, the Tribune reports. Her trial date has been set for Feb. 1.

The Santos family has also filed a civil suit against Rousso to seek damages.
