Police Blotter: Smashing Pumpkins in Highland Park

Criminal damage to property

Police are investigating a report of criminal damage to property. It was reported that sometime between Nov. 9 at 3:45 p.m. and Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. a pumpkin was found smashed on the street and a double pane window in the front of the residence that is approximately 6 feet high by 5 feet wide was observed to have a fist size hole in it with broken glass found on the porch. The incident occurred in the 600 block of Red Oak Terrace, Highland Park.

Debra Klein, 47, of the 2700 block of St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property after police were called to respond to a dispute and a report of a broken windshield on a vehicle in the 2700 block of St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park. Klein was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of December 5, 2012 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Plastic lawn furniture was thrown from one residence in the 600 block of Ridge Road into the back yard of another, an outdoor light was placed on front step and a second set of lawn furniture belonging to a residence in the 1700 block of Strath Erin was found in the roadway.

Police are investigating a report of criminal damage to property where two driver's side tires on a vehicle were punctured with a bladed instrument sometime overnight while parked on the street in the 2600 block of Marl Oak Drive, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report of criminal damage to property. It was reported that three vehicle tires have been punctured between Oct. 18 and Nov. 2 while parked in a secure underground parking garage in the 900 block of Augusta Way, Highland Park.

Unknown person(s) took an unsecured four person EZ Go Golf cart and placed it into water hole on golf course sometime over night. The incident occurred in the 1200 block of Park Avenue West, Highland Park. 

Attempt burglary

Christian Williams, 28, of the 4700 block of S. Ellis, Chicago, and Marcus Gardner, 29, of the 7500 block of N. Damen Avenue, Chicago, were both arrested and each were charged with burglary and attempt burglary after police responded to a report of two suspicious individuals ringing a doorbell in the 1200 block of Green Bay Road, Highland Park. Williams and Gardner were transported to bond court at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois pending court dates.

Residential burglary

Between 4 p.m. on Nov. 10 and 2 a.m. on Nov. 11, gold jewelry was found missing from an upstairs bedroom. A rear newly installed window was found unlocked and had pry marks between exterior window and closed screen.  Missing Jewelry included 2 plain yellow gold wedding bands, 5 pairs of earrings, 2 necklaces (1 White, 1 yellow gold), and several smaller rings. The incident occurred in the 1500 block of McCraren Road, Highland Park. 

Theft

An unknown person(s) removed 6 political signs and 1 banner from various addresses on Green Bay Road sometime between November 4, 2012 at 8 p.m. and November 5, 2012. 

Police are investigating a report of a silver 2004 Chevrolet Corvette that taken from a lot sometime between October 26, 2012 and November 6, 2012. 

Driving under the influence

Anne Siegel, 62, of the 2200 block of Linden Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, disobeying a stop sign and improper lane usage after being stopped by police in the 2000 block of Linden Avenue, Highland Park. Bielby was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of December 7, 2012 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Joseph Giorango, 26, of the 6900 block of Imlay Street, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, uninsured motor vehicle and speeding after being stopped by police in the 1100 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park. Giorango was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of November 30, 2012 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Randy Huerta, 23, of the 100 block of E. Willow Drive, Round Lake Park, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence 3rd offense, uninsured motor vehicle, speeding, aggravated driving under the influence and driving while license revoked for dui after being stopped by police in the 1300 block of Park Avenue West, Highland Park. Huerta was transported to bond court at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois pending court date.

Disorderly conduct

Marquel Thompson, 18, of the 800 block of N. Monticello, Chicago, and Kenard Jarret, 18, of the 1100 block of N. Springfield, Chicago, were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct for falsely reporting a robbery in the 1900 block of St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park. Thompson and Jarret were both released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of December 26, 2012 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Park City, Illinois.
