Driver Charged with DUI, Passenger Charged with Aggravated Battery to Officer

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Luis Arenas-Santiago, 21, of the 1900 block of Second Street in Highland Park, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, hit and run, open transportation of alcohol, uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane usage and no valid drivers license after police responded to a report of a vehicle that had struck a sign near the intersection of Tennyson Lane and Half Day Road at 5:45 p.m. June 8. Arenas-Santiago was released on a personal recognizance bond with a July 11 court date.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE / AGGRAVATED BATTERY TO POLICE OFFICER

Leslie Martinez, 24, of the 1200 block of Tobin Court in Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after being stopped by police who responded to a driving complaint on the Edens Expressway at 5:45 p.m. June 8. Martinez was released on a personal recognizance bond with a July 11 court date.

Karen Morales, 24, of the 1400 block of Belvidere Road in Waukegan, who was a passenger, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, resisting arrest and criminal damage to property. Morales was transported to bond court pending court date.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED

Robert Long, 34, of the 700 block of Colby Court in Gurnee, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and headlight violation (one illuminated) after being stopped by police in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road at 1 a.m. June 3. Long was released on a personal recognizance bond with a July 9 court date.

Constantina Mora-Artiaga, 29, of the 4500 block of Joliet Avenue in Lyons, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended, uninsured motor vehicle and driving without headlights illuminated after being stopped by police in the 1200 block of Skokie Valley Road at 11 p.m. June 4. Mora-Artiaga was released on a personal recognizance bond with a June 25 court date.

Travis Haley, 29, of the 400 block of Center Street in Grayslake, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and disobeying a no turn on red sign after being stopped by police in the 2500 block of Skokie Valley Road at 4 p.m. June 6. Haley was released on a personal recognizance bond with a July 9 court date.

Vernon Johnson, 28, of the 0-100 block of South Shaddle in Mundelein, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended, uninsured motor vehicle, failure to carry drivers license, interference with police officer and disobeying a traffic control device after being stopped by police in the 2500 block of Skokie Valley Road at 3:30 a.m. June 8. Johnson was released on a personal recognizance bond with a July 9 court date.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE REVOKED

Joseph Peddle, 54, of the 1800 block of McCraren Road in Highland Park, was arrested and charged with driving while license revoked, improper use of registration, expired registration and uninsured motor vehicle after being stopped by police in the 1800 block of Ridge Road at 7:30 p.m. June 4. Peddle was released on a personal recognizance bond with a June 25 court date.
