Eight Minors Cited for Underage Drinking

The following arrest information was supplied by the Highland Park police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The information below comes from the Highland Park Police Department.

Domestic battery

Luis Ortiz, 26, of the 900 block of Deerfield Road, Highland Park was arrested and charged with domestic battery after police investigated an incident that reportedly occurred around 4:00 a.m. in the area of Sunset Park in the 1800 block of Sunset Road, Highland Park. Ortiz was transported to bond court at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois pending court date.

Residential burglary

Police are investigating a report of residential burglary. It was reported that sometime between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. unknown subjects entered a residence by prying open the front door. Several pieces of jewelry and a silver silverware set were reported missing. The incident occurred in the 1000 block of Carlyle Terrace, Highland Park.

Burglary to motor vehicle

Police are investigating a report of a burglary to motor vehicle. Sometime between Nov. 30 at 2:20 p.m. and Dec. 3 at 6:30 a.m. unknown person(s) entered a locked van and stole a Dewalt hammer drill, snap-on ratchet set and other minor tools while parked in the 1200 block of Clavey Road, Highland Park.

Theft over $500

Police are investigating a report of a theft. Around 10 a.m., an unknown male took a Carrier rooftop heating and a/c unit from a driveway approximately 100' from the street. The theft occurred in the 1000 block of Crofton Avenue North, Highland Park.

Consumption of alcohol by minor

Two minors were cited administratively for consumption of alcohol by a minor after police located a suspicious occupied vehicle parked in the 3100 block of Dato Avenue, Highland Park. The minors were cited and released with an administrative court date of January 17, 2013 at City Hall, 1707 St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park.

Five minors were cited administratively for consumption of alcohol by a minor after responded to a public complaint of five individuals asking for a ride in the 2500 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. The minors were cited and released with an administrative court date of January 17, 2013 at City Hall, 1707 St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park. 

A minor was cited administratively for consumption of alcohol by a minor after police responded to a complaint of individuals entering a garage of a residence in the 1000 block of Crofton Court, Highland Park. The minor was cited and released with an administrative court date of January 17, 2013 at City Hall, 1707 St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park. 

Activity constituting a public nuisance

Joyce Dlugie, 48, of the 800 block of Woodleigh Road, Highland Park and another minor were cited administratively for Activity Constituting a Public Nuisance after police responded to a report of suspicious activity in the 800 block of Woodleigh Avenue. Two other minors were cited administratively for consumption of alcohol. All were released with an administrative court date of January 17, 2013 at City Hall, 1707 St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park. 

Criminal damage to property

Police are investigating a delayed report of criminal damage to property. Unknown person(s) scratched the passenger side rear quarter panel and rear door of a vehicle with an unknown object sometime between 8:45 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 19. The incident occurred in the 500 block of Vine Avenue, Highland Park.
