Four Forgers Fail to Float Fake Franklins

Highland Park police charged four Chicagoans with forgery after they tried to pass off phony $100 bills.

They're not called C-notes because they're counterfeit.

Four Chicagoans were arrested after trying to pass off phony $100 bills at multiple Highland Park businesses, police reported.

Deandre Foster, 22, of the 6200 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue; Samesha Young, 18, of the 7800 block of South Maryland Street; Karenda White, 20, of the 1100 block of East 67th Street; and Duane McClendon, 24, of the 6000 block of South Cottage Grove, were charged with forgery Tuesday, June 24, by Highland Park police, according to the report.

McClendon also faces a charge of theft by deception after he successfully used one of the counterfeit $100 bills to make a purchase, a police spokeswoman said. And to top it off, police found marijuana on McClendon's person, slapping him with a charge of possession of cannabis.
