Gas, Wedding Ring, Downspout Reported In String of Thefts

The following theft information was provided by the Highland Park Police Department.

Audio System

Someone pilfered a pre-amplifier audio system with a CD player from a vacant store front in the 1800 block of Second Street. The theft was discovered around 10:15 a.m. Jan. 30.


White Gold Wedding Band

A white gold wedding band with seven diamonds and an inscription inside was stolen sometime before 10:02 a.m. Jan. 31. Police said the owner accidentally left it behind at a business in the 300 block of Skokie Valley Road.


Credit Cards Lifted from Locker

Police are investigating two credit cards that were lifted from a secured locker sometime between 6:58 and 8:45 p.m. Jan. 31, at a business located in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road. The owner said the locker was locked but noticed that the thief rifled through the gym bag. No other items were missing and the wallet was left behind. Police said two unauthorized transactions were successfully made on the stolen credit cards.

Gas ‘n Go

The owner of a silver iToyota Camry drove off without paying for $32.00 worth of gas from a gas station in the 0-100 block of of Skokie Valley Road, around 10:37 p.m. Jan. 31.


Copper Downspout

A subject was spotted tearing down a copper downspout from a home in the 900 block of Fairview Road, around 1:41 p.m. Feb. 1. The homeowner said the subject bent the downspout and started walking away, but dropped it when confronted.
