Highland Park Firefighter to Receive Medal of Valor for Saving Man's Life

Firefighter Christopher Gottschalk will receive the award on May 6 for saving a man's life in December.

Highland Park firefighter Christopher Gottschalk will be awarded the Medal of Valor for saving a man's life by pulling him unconscious from a house fire in December, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. 

The victim was initially listed in critical condition from smoke inhalation but has since recovered, the paper reported. Gottschalk will receive the award in early May.
