Highland Park House Fire Leaves 1 Dead

A fire that broke out in a single-story home on Midland Avenue early Monday morning has left one person dead, the Highland Park Police Department reports.

A fire that broke out in a single-story home on Midland Avenue early Monday morning has left one person dead, the Highland Park Police Department reports.

At approximately 12:42 a.m., Highland Park Fire and Police responded to a fire on thee 1700 block of Midland Avenue in Highland Park. Fire fighters from Highwood, Glencoe, Lake Forest and Northbrook also helped to extinguish the blaze, which spread to the roof next-door.

Once the fire was out, investigators discovered the remains of a body, which has yet to be identified.

Both the fire's origin and the subsequent death are being investigated by the Highland Park Fire Investigation Team with the help of the Lake County Coroner’s Office and State Fire Marshall, according to a news release from the Highland Park Police Department.
