Highland Park Man Charged With Agreeing to Aid Taliban Extradited

, the Highland Park resident arrested in February and charged with , appeared in court in New York on Friday after being extradited from Romania, according to Chicago Breaking News.

A spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's office said that Orbach did not fight his detention during the federal court hearing. Chicago Breaking News reports that the former cosmetics distributor is due to return to court June 7.

A sting operation by the Drug Enforcement Administration resulted in the arrests of seven men on Feb. 10, including Orbach, 52. The Highland Park homeowner who is originally from Israel is charged with conspiracy to provide material support and resources to terrorists, and conspiracy to acquire and transfer anti-aircraft missiles, according to the criminal complaint. If convicted, Orbach could face life in prison.

Highland Park Mayor  called the arrest "bizarre."

"I don't want to say it's implausible," he said. "I just want to say it's very awkward to me that someone from Israel would be working against Israel's ally."
