Highland Park Teens Cited for Cannabis

The following arrest information was supplied by the Highland Park police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The information below comes from the Highland Park Police Department.

Possession of cannabis

Samantha Hyman (18) of the 1200 block of Eaton Court, Highland Park was cited administratively for possession of cannabis in the 3100 block of Trail Way, Highland Park.  Hyman is expected in administrative court at City Hall, 1707 St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park on September 4, 2013.

Driving under the influence

David Figueroa (22) of the 2100 block of 116th Street, Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, open transportation of alcohol, expired registration and no license plate lights illuminated after being stopped by police in the 3300 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park.  Figueroa was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of September 13, 2013 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan.

Speeding 40+ Miles per Hour over the limit

Kyle Adkisson (24) of the 5800 block of Monroe Street, Morton Grove was arrested and charged with speeding 40+mph over limit and negligent driving after being stopped by police in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park.  Adkisson was released on a cash bond with a court date of September 25, 2013 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Park City.

Possession of cannabis

Jake Leverick (19) of the 1300 block of Ridgewood Drive, Highland Park and Taylor Grisset (19) of the 1000 block of Princeton Avenue, Highland Park were cited administratively for possession of alcohol by minor and possession of drug paraphernalia after police responded to a complaint in the 600 block of Elm Place, Highland Park.  Leverick and Grisset are expected in administrative court at City Hall, 1707 St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park on September 4, 2013.

Accident

At 9:53 a.m. on August 8, 2013, Highland Park Fire and Police Departments responded to a reported car on fire that had crashed inside Binnys Beverage Depot located at 153 Skokie Valley Road in the Crossroads Shopping Center. Upon arriving on the scene, fire crews extinguished the fire that had ignited upon impact and was accelerated by the liquor inside the store. Six overhead sprinklers activated, helping to suppress the fire which was fully extinguished by fire crews. “The incident is a testament to the effectiveness of sprinklers,” Fire Chief Patrick Tanner said. “The sprinklers helped keep the fire in check until the fire crew could fully extinguish it.” Two individuals were transported to Highland Park Hospital with minor injuries, including the driver and one employee. The building sustained no structural damage. No citations have been issued to the driver as the accident occurred on private property.

Burglary from motor vehicle

Police are investigating a burglary to a motor vehicle while parked between 5:00 P.M. and 5:45 P.M in the 1200 block of Fredricksons Place, Highland Park. It was reported that unknown person(s) broke the front drivers side window on a gray Mitsubishi and a purse left on the front passenger seat containing a wallet, cash and credit cards was taken.
