Home on Forest Ave Burglarized, Attempted Burglary on Elder Lane

Several thefts were also reported last week.

The following information is from the Highland Park Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

Someone burglarized a home in the 1500 block of Forest Avenue sometime between 11:40 a.m. and 1:46 p.m. April 7. The offender(s) appeared to have entered through an unlocked door and taken jewelry and cash.

ATTEMPT BURGLARY / CRIMINAL DAMAGE

Wood shavings on the floor and two pry marks made by an unknown tool were observed on the front door and a single shoe impression was observed in the mud at a residence located in the 200 block of Elder Lane April 8. No entry was gained.

THEFT

Police received a report April 9 that someone removed gutters, aluminum siding and an air conditioning unit from a vacant residence in the 3000 block of Greenwood Avenue.

At approximately 11:00 a.m. April 9, a purse and shoes were placed in a public cubby and left unattended at a business in the 700 block of Central Avenue. A wallet containing a driver’s license, credit cards, cash were later found missing.

A green Waste Management recycling receptacle was stolen from the alley on the north side of a building in the 1800 block of Sheridan Road between March 31 and April 8.
