HPHS Sub Charged with Cyberstalking, Harassment After Being Let Go

The Highland Park man was released from his employment and then started posting "rants" online, police say.

A Highland Park man is facing cyberstalking and harassment charges after police say he posted “disparaging rants” about being released from his job as a substitute teacher at Highland Park High School.

Steven Habay, 40, was released from his employment on Wednesday after an internal personnel investigation, police said. Afterward, Habay “began posting various disparaging rants related to his release,” police said in a press release.

After an investigation and increased police presence at the high school, police arrested Habay at his home on Friday afternoon. Police said that computer evidence as well as statements he made when he was arrested link him to the rants.
