iPhone, Galaxy Tablet and Nook Stolen Last Week

The following arrest information was supplied by the Highland Park police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Criminal damage to property

Between 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 27 and 10 a.m. Oct. 29, 1 of 13 large double pane fixed windows was broken.  It appeared that the window was struck with an object, possibly small projectile, which caused the window to "spider." The incident occurred in the 3300 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report of criminal damage to property where a 4 X 6 plate glass window had a small bb hole through it. The incident occurred over the weekend in the 3000 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report of criminal damage to property where seven wire mesh panels on the overlook at the open land lakeshore preserve were damaged over the weekend by an unknown party. 

Police are investigating a report of criminal damage to property where a passenger side door to a vehicle had been damaged by an unknown party while parked in a space for over one week. The incident occurred in the 1600 block of First Street, Highland Park.

Graffiti was located painted on 2 buildings and on an alleyway speed limit sign in the 400 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park. The drawings consisted of a 3 red ghost drawings with the word "Beware”. 

Police are investigating a report of criminal damage to property where a vehicle was keyed on all four sides sometime between 1:30 pm on 11/2/2012 and reporting date while parked in a driveway. The incident occurred in the 500 block of Washington Place, Highland Park.

Matthew Hunken (40) of the 100 block of Hemstead Street, Lake Bluff, was arrested after spitting into a squad car while crossing the intersection of Green Bay Rd and Elm Place against a traffic control device. Hunken was charged with battery, criminal damage to property, interference with police officers and violating a crosswalk. Hunken was released on a cash bond with a court date of December 12, 2012 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Park City.

Theft

Police are investigating the theft of a Black Samsung Galaxy Tablet in black leather case which was taken from inside a store sometime between 1-1:45 p.m. on Oct. 30 while a service technician was servicing a machine in the store. The incident occurred in the 1800 block of Deerfield Road, Highland Park.

Unknown person(s) stole an Xmark lawn mower and an Echo backpack mounted blower from a landscape trailer. The trailer was attached to a pickup truck and parked in front of a residence in the1900 block of Sunnyside. The theft occurred on Oct. 31 between 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. The trailer was open at the time of the theft. 

Sometime between 7:50 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Nov. 1 a Nook tablet and IPhone 4 left unattended on a table were stolen. The incident occurred in the 400 block of Laurel Avenue, Highland Park. 

An unknown person(s) stole an Apple I-phone which was left in an unlocked locker. The incident occurred in the 400 block of Vine Avenue, Highland Park. 

Driving under the influence

Carl Elliottt Bielby (77) of the 1700 block of W. Layton Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, open transportation of alcohol, improper lane usage, expired registration, failure to use of turn signal and speeding after being stopped by police in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Bielby was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of December 7, 2012 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Arcadio Abundezcortes (32) of the 800 block of Piper Lane, Wheeling, was arrested and charged with improper lane usage, impeding traffic (too slow), driving under the influence, 2 counts of aggravated driving under the influence and driving while license revoked after being stopped by police near Lake Cook Road and  Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Abundezcortes was transported to bond court at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois pending court date. 

Joshua Klein (21) of the 3500 block of Eddy, Chicago, was arrested and charged with speeding, driving under the influence, fleeing and eluding, reckless driving and driving while license suspended. Klein was taken into custody in the 1700 block of Deerfield Road, Highland Park after abandoning his vehicle at a park and fleeing on foot. Klein was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of December 7, 2012 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois and turned over to Morton Grove Police on an outstanding warrant for Theft.

Police responded to a report of a battery that had occurred in the 500 block of Chicago Avenue and two vehicles that had left the area at a high rate of speed. Nathan Glicksberg (27) of the 500 block of Hummingbird Lane, Deerfield was arrested and charged with reckless driving, driving under the influence, failure to signal, battery and unlawful use of a weapon.  Glicksberg was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of November 30, 2012 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, IL. Jonathan Matsuda (27) of the 2800 block of Summit Avenue, Highland Park was arrested and charged with battery and reckless driving. Matsuda was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of November 30, 2012 at 18 N. County Street, Highland Park.
