iPhone, GPS and Political Signs Stolen

Criminal damage to property

Orange plastic fencing and a metal support post located on a walking trail on US Government land was damaged by an unknown party sometime over the weekend in the 3100 block of Chatfield Drive, Highland Park.

Graffiti was located underneath the Bloom Street bridge located at the intersection of Bloom Street and Waukegan Avenue, Highland Park. Reddish brown spray paint along the lower west end of the north wall was located. The paint appeared faded.

Theft

An unknown person(s) stole two political yard signs from a front yard sometime overnight in the 2700 block of Oak Street, Highland Park.  

An unknown person(s) stole political yard signs approximately two weeks ago and another political yard sign in the last couple days in the 2700 block of Fort Sheridan Avenue, Highland Park.  

An unknown person(s) stole an Apple iPhone in a black case from an unattended backpack. The incident occurred in the 400 block of Vine Avenue, Highland Park. 

Sometime between 5 p.m. on Oct. 22 and 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 23, construction equipment located inside a structure being built was stolen including saws and an air compressor. The doors were not secured and were opened with screwdriver. The incident occurred in the 300 block of Orchard Lane, Highland Park. 

An unknown person(s) stole a political yard sign from a front yard sometime overnight in the 2700 block of Oak Street, Highland Park.  

An unknown person(s) stole four political yard signs from a front yard sometime overnight in the 2700 block of Oak Street, Highland Park.  

An unknown person(s) stole an Apple iPhone which was left in an unlocked locker. The incident occurred in the 400 block of Vine Avenue, Highland Park. 

An unknown person(s) stole a handmade duct-tape wallet which was left in an unlocked locker unattended. The incident occurred in the 400 block of Vine Avenue, Highland Park. 

An unknown person(s) stole a black leather Coach wallet taken from locker from a secured pass code locker room on Oct. 24 between 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. No cash, several credit cards, a driver’s license and state I.D. were taken. No reported activity on the credit cards. The incident occurred in the 700 block of Park Avenue West, Highland Park. 

Burglary to motor vehicle

Sometime between Oct. 22 around 10 p.m. and the morning of Oct. 23, unknown person(s) stole a laptop, GPS, and headphones from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 400 block of Park Avenue West, Highland Park. A second (unreported) unlocked vehicle was also entered sometime between Tuesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 11.  A Nextar GPS unit, a Jabra bluetooth charger and $8 in cash was reported missing.

Sometime between 6 p.m. Oct. 24 and 11 a.m. on Oct. 25, unknown person(s) entered a van and forcibly removed an Alpine Stereo and navigation system from the dash while parked in a driveway in front of residence located in the 2700 block of Arlington Avenue, Highland Park. Unknown if the vehicle was locked or unlocked.

Driving under the influence

Jeffrey Schear, 27, of the 600 block of Irving Park Road, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and speeding 40 miles per hour over the limit after being stopped by police in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Schear was released on a cash bond with a court date of November 16, 2012 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Ill.
